Paris Hilton vs. Sarah Palin

Sometimes I find it difficult to focus strictly on the happenings surrounding the American elections: sometimes its simply not what takes me attention- even though its what you hear about 80 percent of the time you spend in the USA (that and the hurricane). But in the end we are "blogging america" so I can take some creative autonomy. I admit that when I was flipping around the TV channels looking for coverage of the elections but the channel that startled me the most was MTV, why? Because of a reality show about Paris Hilton. By what stretch of imagination can Paris Hilton be the focal point of any show that claims to have any semblance of "reality" and better yet- what on earth makes it O.K for her to call 7 or 8 teenaged girls her "pets" throughout the whole series. Not only that, the girls who try to cast for the show are refered to as "lucky hopefuls"- this makes me sick. If a fully functional living breathing thinking female is reduced to being labelled a "pet" for Paris Hilton,  then perhaps Sarah Palin isn't the biggest problem for American women after all...

But you watched the whole show, didn't you, Egydiva, clucking your tongue the entire time. You just became one of Paris Hilton's pets.
